Custom Pullip Kagura

Fin! This was the only char from the series- besides the cat- that I genuinely liked... Of course, what always happens to characters I like... ;A;

She (along with her implied love interest) has one of the best costumes in the series, and for some reason I got it into my head to make a custom Pullip doll of her- although I don't remember what sparked the idea, since it's been years since I've seen the series. :S

She wears a kosode- complete with the wider panels and closed-back sleeves- sewn on a 1/6 scale. Her under-"kosode" are actually faux-eri/tsuke-eri dumped beneath her real kosode. (In this, her final costume, she never does the "pulling down one shoulder of the upper kosode" thing, so I could fake both under-layers. ;A; YES.) I went with the manga version of her outfit, because A. I like it better and B. it has "white" and "yellow" on it- which are probably meant to depict metallic threads, which were often used on old kimono-like-garments. And I have this metallic-gold paint laying around which I really, REALLY like. (It's LUMIERE by Jacquard Light Body Metallic Acrylic 552 BRIGHT GOLD, if you're curious; in YEARS of crafting, it is THE BEST gold paint I've found. [No one's paying me to say this.] )

Her "earrings" are actually green stone spheres tied to her wig with black embroidery floss; the last manga cover featuring her shows that her "earrings" are actually hair dangles like this (although perhaps on her hair itself), BUT I think that it may just be the artist forgetting: I'm pretty sure that they were legit earrings in earlier drawings. :?

The giant feather (which also contributed a bit to her ponytail-holder) was ganked from a quill-pen set I found at the thrift mart. After having a horrible week, I found a rare giant white feather at a store right before closing. ;A; I'm so glad.

I ended up using my Pullip Melissa as a base for this; I'm tempted to leave her this way, since she looks better than her earlier custom. :S

Well, that's all. Onward to working on the other char from this series... And, yes, I typically pick my customs based on who has the best outfits. Kag' won't be lonely for long. ;P
