Asian Steampunk Pirate Pullip

Via Flickr:
Finished! For now, at least. I wanted to do a steampunk pirate design with Asian influences. ^^; I like the steampunk Pullip concept, but the only one I kind of like is Ra Muw (and Eos's wings), and there really needed to be a pirate one... So, the idea behind this custom was something along the lines of "how the steampunk line of Pullips should have been [in my opinion.]" Her bloomers are based on hakama (pleated Japanese kimono pants) whereas her corset/shirt is of Chinese influence (specifically: Manchu period/culture.) The sarashi she wears are kind of a common-sense thing for a female pirate, but also, of course, of Asian influence. The tights are meant to based on the sort of chainmail a kunoichi (female ninja) usually wears in media representations- although I'm not sure if they actually wore that type of armor on their legs. She carries a katana- a Japanese sword used by samurai. Her shoes and socks are influenced by Colonial American shoes- one of the few things in her design from the West. If someone is traveling the world in old times, it makes sense to me that they would pick up outfit parts and things from all over- and I just happen to like the Asian aesthetic. To me, steampunk always brings to mind [1] pirates and [2] the Meiji era. (I blame Jules Verne and the Rurouni Kenshin manga for this! >_>) I've been toying with customizing this Suiseiseki for a while, and I think that this look suits her the best...
